SUMMARY:Vancouver Diabetes Research Day
DESCRIPTION:World Diabetes Day (WDD) was created in 1991 by International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in response to growing concerns about the escalating health threat posed by diabetes. World Diabetes Day became an official United Nations Day in 2006 with the passage of United Nation Resolution 61/225. It is marked every year on 14 November\, the birthday of Canadian Sir Frederick Banting\, who co-discovered insulin along with Charles Best in 1922. \nIn acknowledgement of World Diabetes Day the diabetes research community in British Columbia holds an annual scientific day the week of November 14th.  This year we will make many adjustments to our format to follow public health guidelines due to Covid-19. Our trainee committee are planning an exciting virtual scientific day for all diabetes researchers in British Columbia. All interested trainees are invited to join our planning committee to gain meeting planning skills and meet other trainees. \nE-mail: info@diabetesbc.ca to join the #VDRD2020 planning committee team today!
