DESCRIPTION:The British Columbia Cancer Agency Graduate Student and Post Doctoral Fellow Society has created the event “Diversify Research” in order to encourage BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ students to pursue science and cancer research. \nWe are inviting 11th and 12th-grade high school students to learn the fundamentals of cancer and cancer research from graduate students and postdoctoral fellow mentors. \nSeveral modules will be taught online previous to the in-person date. \nOn August 18th\, there will be an in-person day where the students can visit the Research Institute to see the laboratories. \nApply today! Deadline for applications June 15.

This workshop will be held in MSL 101 on the following dates: \n\n\n\nThursday June 29\, 2:30-4:30 pm\nTuesday July 25\,10 am-12 pm\n\n\nAll trainees\, staff and faculty are welcome. Snacks will be provided. ☕🍩\n\nOver the course of this workshop\, we will cover the basics to building an inclusive environment for sexual and gender diverse individuals. We will cover terminology to better understand and familiarize ourselves with how some may identify; look at current and historical challenges and barriers; and discuss scenarios and solutions that Queer and Trans people often face. This workshop will be facilitated by the MSL EDI Workshop committee.\n\nTo register\, please go to: https://bit.ly/EDIWS2\n\nIndividual workshop participants will receive a certificate of completion if they attend 4 of the 6 workshops in the series.
