SUMMARY:xChange 2024
DESCRIPTION:The BC xChange event\, co-hosted by the EWB UBC Chapter at the Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability at the University of British Columbia\, will focus on building a sustainable future for communities in BC through inclusive climate solutions. With the focus on communities in BC who lack the resources in achieving the 2030 goals\, this conference allows to help engage in conversations that would assist marginalized communities to help achieve the 2030 climate goals. \nThe BC region event will tackle what an accelerated adoption and use of renewable/clean energy\, decarbonization programs and initiatives\, and clean tech innovations generally\, means to BC communities. What policy\, regulatory\, and incentive environments are required to ensure market forces are not the primary drivers of equitable advancements in areas and communities that would be seen as less profitable for this transition? Will remote\, marginalized\, and Indigenous communities have a partnership position in this critical transition? Will Indigenous groups be sidelined in the planning and execution of any comprehensive strategy? How will clean tech\, net zero and decarbonization initiatives\, and renewable/clean energy meet BC’s future energy needs while driving an equitable achievement of 2030 goals? This inclusive event will feature expert panelists from all sectors\, break-out sessions\, interactive booths and displays\, and networking opportunities. \nWe’re excited to welcome attendees from across BC and Canada to dive further into this conversation. Come join us at the BC xChange for a day of learning\, collaboration\, networking\, refreshments and more! \nLearn more.
