SUMMARY:What’s New with the UBC Clinical Research Ethics Board?
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, speakers from the UBC Clinical Research Ethics Board (CREB) will provide updates about the latest review methods and guidance for clinical research ethics applications. This session will cover three key topics: biobank guidance\, the role of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) in the research checklist and the new clinical survey application form in the UBC Research Ethics RISe platform. Attendees will receive the latest insights on research ethics applications and have the opportunity to ask questions about the application process. \nLearning objectives\nIn this workshop\, you will learn the latest updates from the UBC CREB\, including: \n– biobank guidance \n– the role of AI/ML in research checklist \n– the new clinical RISe survey form \nAbout the speakers\nElmira Chan has been a staff member of the UBC CREB since 2013. She is currently the project lead for Biobank update project and RISe working group for clinical applications. Previously\, she was a research coordinator with over ten years’ experience working in various departments in the UBC Faculty of Medicine. She graduated from McGill University with a MA in Educational Psychology. \nSarah Flann has been a staff member of the UBC CREB since 2021. Prior to joining CREB\, she worked as a research ethics administrator at Fraser Health Authority and Adler University Vancouver. Sarah has over a decade of experience managing research teams in clinical neuroscience\, psychosis and neuroimaging. Sarah graduated from King’s College London with a M.Sc. in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health. \nThis workshop is part of our VCHRI Research Training Series. This series is designed to support the acquisition of advanced skills\, techniques and knowledge and lead to enhanced practices in the conduct of research.
