SUMMARY:REB Exchange: Harmonized Ethics Review with University of Alberta and University of Calgary
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, Elmira Chan\, pre-post review manager at UBC Clinical Research Ethics Board (CREB)\, will provide an insightful overview of the Research Ethics Board Exchange (REBX). This new feature of UBC’s research ethics application platform RISe facilitates harmonized ethics review between five UBC and UBC-affiliated Research Ethics Boards (REBs)\, and University of Alberta and/or University of Calgary REBs. This session will cover how to use REBX in human ethics applications to exchange information between UBC’s RISe system and other two Alberta REB systems. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the ethics review process. \nLearning objectives\nIn this workshop you will learn: \n– what is REBX and its purpose \n– how to use REBX for harmonized review between UBC\, University of Alberta and University of Calgary \n– the benefits of REBX \nAbout the speaker\nElmira Chan has been a staff member of the UBC CREB since 2013. She is currently the project lead for REBX project and RISe working group for clinical applications. Previously\, she was a research coordinator with over ten years’ experience working in various departments of the UBC Faculty of Medicine. She graduated from McGill University with a MA in Educational Psychology. \nThis workshop is part of our VCHRI Research Training Series. This series is designed to support the acquisition of advanced skills\, techniques and knowledge and lead to enhanced practices in the conduct of research.
