I’m Dr. Marissa Lithopoulos\, a Postdoctoral Fellow at UBC conducting stem cell research to help us better understand and mitigate the complications of preterm birth. This event is a fundraiser for my science education album! Check out the 3 singles I’ve published from the album here! \nScience\, Stand-Up\, & Song aims to bridge the gap between scientists and the public.\nThe show will feature: \n3 brilliant scientists: \n–Dr. Chana Davis is a Medical Scientist at Gilead Sciences where she connects healthcare professionals to the latest updates on cancer research and treatments. Dr. Davis is a passionate science communicator\, as the Founder of Fueled by Science and a Contributing Writer with Those Nerdy Girls. \n–Dr. David Ng is a geneticist and the Associate Director of the Michael Smith Laboratories\, where he supervises the Advanced Molecular Biology Laboratory. He is a remarkable leader in science education\, with a special talent for combining art with science. \n–Dr. Adriana Suarez-Gonzalez is a Senior Science and Technology Advisor at 10X Genomics\, a company at the forefront of cutting-edge technology\, allowing for the study of large datasets of cells at a single cell resolution. Dr. Suarez-Gonzalez provides essential guidance and support to scientists across many disciplines of biology. \n4 hilarious comedians: \n–Yumi Nagashima is a charming Tokyo-born\, Vancouver-based stand-up comedian\, singer\, & dancer. Yumi has performed at top comedy venues all over the globe – Montreal’s Just for Laughs Showcase\, Jakarta International Comedy Festival\, and Comedy Central Asia in Singapore. \n–Alannah Brittany is a wonderfully observant Vancouver-based comedian\, actor\, and producer. Alannah has been featured on the Just for Laughs Originals album\, CBC Gem’s New Wave of Stand-Up\, and Apple TV. \n–Bradley Fung is a witty Vancouver-based stand-up comedian\, who hosts Buds and Suds monthly comedy showcase. Bradley has appeared in YVR Funny Season 2 and Just for Laughs Best of the West. \n–*Special Guest Appearance* \n1 host to perform original science songs along the way! \nWe are proudly supported by a 2025 Canadian Association for Neuroscience Outreach & Advocacy Award!
