Sit back\, relax\, and watch as our competitors battle to achieve science communication fame and glory while learning something new in our back-to-school themed event. \nWhat exactly is a science slam? Based on the format of a poetry slam\, a science slam is a competition where speakers gather to share their science with you – the audience. Competitors have five minutes to present on any science topic without the use of a slideshow and are judged based on communication skills\, audience impact and scientific content. Props and creative presentation styles are encouraged — no slides! \nInterested in competing as a Slammer for this event? No formal science background needed\, just some enthusiasm for science. Fill out our application here! \nDoors open at 7pm\, event begins at 7:30pm. \nEarly bird tickets are $12 (limited number). Get your ticket now! \nFull price tickets are $15. \nSee you there! \nNotes: \nThe venue is wheelchair accessible. The main cabaret room is accessible through a ramped entrance. We also have a wheelchair accessible washroom in the space as well. \nVenue is a 19+ venue with non-gendered bathrooms. \nMasks are not required but they are encouraged. \nScience Slam acknowledges that this event takes place on the traditional\, ancestral\, and unceded territory of the Squamish\, Musqueam\, and Tsleil Waututh Nation. DESCRIPTION:Prostate Cancer Foundation BC is proud to present our second annual golf tournament. This project idea was brought to us by a man whose father was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer 5 years ago. The father is still doing well\, and we are finally able to say that this is an annual event. Join us during Prostate Cancer Awareness month for our second golf tournament. \nOne in eight Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. On average 66 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every day and 12 men lose their life to this disease daily. \nEvery level of golf player is welcome at the Pars for Prostate tournament. In order to facilitate a smooth running tournament we are running this event with a Texas Scramble format with a shotgun start.

On average 66 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every day and 12 men lose their life to this disease daily. \nEvery level of golf player is welcome at the Pars for Prostate tournament. In order to facilitate a smooth running tournament we are running this event with a Texas Scramble format with a shotgun start.

Dr. Russell’s research and publications have led to direct impact on care of critically ill septic patients. Over a dozen breakthroughs from his work have now been incorporated into standard guidelines of care. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTransforming Care for Complex Skin Conditions \nDr. Noelle Wong As the leading hub for research and medical training\, the Dermatology Centre is committed to delivering innovative and specialized medical dermatologic care through seamless access to nine subspecialty clinics that is rarely available in BC. ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Dr. Noelle Wong is a duo board-certified dermatologist and fellowship trained dermatologic and Mohs Micrographic Surgeon in both Canada and the United States. Cathy won the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Indigenous Engagement Award\, with the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council in 2022 for her work with the late Bill Blackwater Jr.\, Gitxsan Hereditary Chief and many other Indigenous (First Nations\, Metis and Inuit) patient voices across the province\, developing Principles of Cultural Safety. Cathy currently works at Vancouver Coastal Health\, Indigenous Health as the Director of Indigenous Cultural Safety. She has a graduate degree in leadership and brings over thirty years of experience in engagement\, teaching\, leadership training\, and program design in health and academics. \nKwelkwáyel7simia Wendy Nahanee is from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation. She was born and raised in North Vancouver\, a village formerly known as Eslaha7an. Wendy is a Host Nation Matriarch and mother to one mén̓men\, or child. She lives and works in the village formerly known as K’emk’emelá\, or East Vancouver where she\, among many other hats she wears\, is the appointed Chair for the Urban Indigenous Advisory Council for the City of Vancouver\, Chair of the DTES Powwow and sits on the Board of Directors for Britannia\, Carnegie and the DTES Indigenous People’s Day Celebration. Professionally Wendy is the Indigenous Strategic Lead for Indigenous Cultural Safety at Vancouver Coastal Health.
