SUMMARY:B.I.G. Research Day 2017
DESCRIPTION:The Bioinformatics Graduate Program (BIOF)\, Interdisciplinary Oncology Program (IOP)\, and Genome Science + Technology Graduate Program (GSAT) from the University of British Columbia are pleased to present their 7th annual research day on March 9th\, 2017. \nOver 100 graduate students from all three programs will gather to present their exciting research projects and attend seminars and workshops by academic/industry professionals. \nMoreover\, this year we are going to give the chance to a group of 40 undergraduate students to participate and present their research at our event!   \nThe main theme this year will be science communication. The ability to translate and distill complex science into language that is accessible to the public is a skill that is important for all scientists. Public support for health research ensures consistent funding for our research and major policy decisions depend on the science that is communicated to the public.  The more informed everyone is\, the better decisions we make for our future!
