DESCRIPTION:In this session\, certified Project Management Professional Robyn Roscoe will share the key budgeting basics for research projects. This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of cost proposal development\, detailing expense categorization and offering useful templates for project budget preparation\, including project launch\, set-up\, monitoring and reporting. It will also cover critical aspects of cost management\, such as expense control and reporting. Additionally\, the speaker will discuss key considerations in research project finance\, including common funding mechanisms\, matching funding and post-award factors. \nNo prior experience is required — the workshop is open to those new to project cost management as well as those seeking to refine their skills. \nSpace is limited to 50 attendees and VCHRI investigators\, staff and trainees will be prioritized. Your registration will be confirmed by VCHRI following submission. \nLearning objectives\nIn this workshop you will learn: \n– The elements of cost proposal development for a research project \n– The principles of cost management and categorization of expenses \n– Budget structure and its importance in research project cost management \n– The stages of research project cost management\, including project launch\, set-up\, monitoring and reporting \n– Key considerations for budget and cost management in research\, including common funding mechanisms and matching funding \nThis workshop is part of our VCHRI Research Training Series.
