Position Summary

The Research Technician will be responsible for providing support to research staff in execution of laboratory experiments and assist in lab management.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Manufacture nanoparticle formulations using PNI’s NanoAssemblr Instruments.
  • Perform analysis to determine the physico-chemical properties of nanoparticle formulations such as DLS measurement, RiboGreen assay, ELISA, Western Blot or other routine lab or molecular biological assays.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers and equipment for use in the experiments.
  • Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reports and technical presentations.
  • Assist in general lab management such as organization and cleanliness of lab.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A BSc in a Life Sciences discipline or other relevant disciplines.
  • Prior experience working in a research laboratory will be an asset.
  • Experience in analytical assays, strong analytical and troubleshooting capability.
  • Experience in aseptically handling of sterile materials such as tissue cultures, buffer solutions, etc. in Biosafety cabinets.
  • Experience in standard molecular biology techniques such as ELISA, etc. and working with plate readers, DLS instrument, UV-Vis spectrophotometry is an asset.
  • Formulation development experience is an asset.
  • Must be a resourceful, proactive, detail-oriented individual.
  • The individual must be a team player who thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple tasks, changing priorities and aggressive deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate and interact with all levels in the organization.
  • Be able to work with minimum supervision.
