Artificial Intelligence for Drug Discovery and Development
Jason Crawford, PhD Executive Vice President, Drug Discovery (Gandeeva Therapeutics) Jason Crawford oversees drug development at Gandeeva Therapeutics by translating structural insights derived from cryo-EM and computational predictions into novel medicines. Jason held roles of increasing scientific responsibility and portfolio oversight at adMare BioInnovations (formerly CDRD), with the most senior role as Venture Partner. Prior to adMare, Jason was at AnorMED Inc. where he was a Manager of Development Chemistry and led the drug substance CMC efforts to enable pre-clinical and outsourced GMP production for AMD070 for preclinical to Phase 2 clinical trials, and for plerixafor (Mozobil) for Phase 2 through to regulatory approval. Jason also held medicinal chemistry roles at AnorMED and Microcide Inc. Jason received his BSc and PhD from the University of Victoria and conducted postdoctoral research at Ohio State University. Jason Rolfe, PhD Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer (Variational AI) Jason Rolfe is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Variational AI, where he leads the development of Enki™, a generative AI platform purpose-built for drug discovery. With a background spanning machine learning and computational neuroscience, Jason brings nearly two decades of experience to the design of algorithms that create novel, pharmacologically optimized small molecules. Prior to founding Variational AI, he held research positions at Caltech, NYU, and ETH Zürich. He is a vocal advocate for domain-specific generative models in biotech and regularly shares technical insights through Variational AI’s Substack, “Musings on AI for Drug Discovery”.
