Fraser Health and SFU Research Pitching Day

November 27, 2019 - 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event details

Date: November 27, 2019
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Location: Simon Fraser University Surrey Campus

What is the purpose of this event?

This half-day event of presentations and activities is aimed at building new research collaborations between Fraser Health, Simon Fraser University and the community. This event is intended to bring these groups together to foster new collaborations through the presentation of research “pitches” across the divide between research, policy, and practice.

Who should attend?

Fraser Health
You are a clinician or health care manager who would like to work with an academic researcher and/or member of the public (i.e., patient or caregiver) on a research project.

Simon Fraser University
You are an academic researcher looking for collaboration with a clinician or health care manager and/or member of the public (i.e., patient or caregiver).

Community member, patient or caregiver
You are a person with lived experience of a health care issue or the health care system, or a caregiver or family member of a patient, and are interested in getting involved in health research or have a research idea that requires support to pursue.

Who can apply?

Any Fraser Health staff or physician, Simon Fraser University faculty member, Simon Fraser University graduate student or postdoc, or member of the public with a health-related research idea that is looking for collaborators.

This event will have limited space and the application process will be competitive. Priority will be given to patient-oriented project ideas (i.e, research that engages persons with lived experience with health issues or the health care system in research as team members) that align with Simon Fraser University and Fraser Health’s research priorities, including:

  • Health care technology and innovation
  • Clinical intervention
  • Knowledge transfer and implementation research
  • Public and population health
  • Health systems and services

See Fraser Health’s Strategic Research Plan and Simon Fraser University’s Strategic Research Plan.
