March for Science

April 22, 2017 - 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
march for science Vancouver

Are you ready to walk out of the lab and into the streets for science?

Whether you’re a scientist or a science enthusiast, we want you to join us on April 22, 2017 to celebrate the very important role science plays in our lives. This movement is taking place globally because thousands of people who value science in their lives have realized that staying silent is no longer an option. There are over 330 marches being planned across Canada and internationally.

DONATIONS
If you’d like to help fund the march, visit our GoFundMe page and donate. We would so appreciate the help and will be using donations for permits, a sound system, equipment rentals, clean up gear, promotional materials, our website & domain name, banners, and travel costs for guest speakers. Donations made in excess of our costs will be given to a science-oriented charity [TBA].

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
This event takes place on the traditional, unceded, occupied territories of the səlil̓wətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

ACCESSIBILITY & DIVERSITY
We plan to make this march as inclusive and accessible to as many people as possible. We value diversity and equality. Scientists and people who care about science are an intersectional group, embodying a diverse range of race, sexual orientation, (a)gender identity, ability, religion, age, and socioeconomic and immigration status. We come together under a shared passion for pursuing and sharing knowledge.

We are also working on accessbility options for people that may need assistance during the march.
