Women in Tech End of Summer Networking Party

August 23, 2018 - 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Women in Tech End of Summer Networking Party

There are so many amazing groups for women in tech in Vancouver. It’s about time we all got together for some fun! This event is a partnership between some of Vancouver’s best Women in Tech groups in the city:

Come on out for a fun night of networking, drinks, and snacks where you can meet other women in similar fields, make professional connections, and find some new friends who get where you’re coming from.

The event will run from 6:00 – 8:00 pm — feel free to show up anytime your work or play is done for the day.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Love,
The Organizers of Women in Male-Dominated Industries, Women Can Tech, Women in Tech World, Women Who Code, Women in Product, & Westcoast Women in Engineering, Science and Technology.

FAQs

On a scale of 1-10, how fun will this event be?
It’ll be easily 25 out of 10 on the fun scale.

Who is welcome at this event?
This event is open to people who identify as women as well as any individual who is in a gender minority in their field. This includes trans individuals, genderqueer, agender, intersex, two spirit, and non-binary folks. If you are not sure if you are included, please err on the side of attending this event! Feel free to reach out to the Organizer, Holly Burton, with any questions and for an automatic welcoming face and first-friend.

Do I have to bring my ticket to the event?
Nope, as long as you know your name and it matches the one on our list, you’ll be good to go.

If I can’t make it anymore, what do I do?
Unfortunately we don’t have the bandwidth to process refunds, but you’re free to give or sell your ticket to another lovely human who would like to attend. Just make sure to forward them your e-ticket, so we can scan it (since your name will be on the list, rather than theirs).

Will there be alchol at this event?
No! We will have lots of soft drinks, but the event will be alcohol-free. We do this to maintain the privacy and comfort of those who are unable to drink or choose not to drink on the particular night of our event (eg: medical reasons, pregnancy, addiction history, lifestyle choice, need to drive back to burnaby after the event). We trust that our attendees will be able to talk and get to know each other, if only because they’re chatting with other folks about how freaking fantastic our 90’s playlist is.

Do y’all have a code of conduct and/or harassment policy?
Heck yes! We want all of our attendees to feel safe so we’re dedicated to a harassment-free experience for everyone at our events. We’ll be using WIMDI’s Code of Conduct for this event, which can be found here.

Will there be photography at this event?
There will be photography at this event. We understand that photography may present a safety and/or privacy concern to some attendees. Due to the large attendee volume at this particular event and unstructured seating, we will be unable to acommodate specific requests to not be photographed. WIMDI and several of the other meetups collaborating on this event offer many other photography-free events, as well as more structured events where we can manage attendee requests for no photos. If photos at this event aren’t a great fit for you, then we’d love to see your smiling face (or heck, even your grumpy face!) at one of our other events where we can collaborate with you on photography.
