Alpha-9 Theranostics is seeking an experienced Chemist to join our growing organization.  The ideal candidate will have significant experience with solid-phase peptide synthesis, and preferably with radiopharmaceutical development.  This person will be responsible for designing, planning and synthesizing peptides/peptidomimetic building blocks and precursors for radiopharmaceutical product candidates.

We are an early-stage company, so you will have the opportunity to participate cross-functionally and contribute to the build-out and set-up of new laboratory facilities.  The ideal candidate will have multi-tasking ability and a desire to strive in a fast-paced environment.

Some specific duties and tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design, plan, and synthesize peptides/peptidomimetics or small molecule-based building blocks and drug substances for radiopharmaceutical development
  • Analytical development and validation using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HPLC and NMR
  • Partner and collaborate with internal/external teams to deliver compounds for biological evaluation
  • Maintain clear and accurate lab records
  • Interpret and analyze data, prepare, and review study reports, communicate project progress to internal stakeholders and external collaborators
  • Key participant in the writing and execution of patent applications
    Contribute to build-out and set up of a new laboratory facility
    Mentor Chemists I and II
  • Lab maintenance and support of ordering and receipt of needed supplies

Qualifications:

  • MS or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or related area; and 5+ years of related industrial experience
  • Solid understanding and practical experience in synthetic organic methodology and chemical process research, combined with strong problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience in modern synthetic and analytical techniques
  • Significant experience with solid-phase peptide synthesis preferred, but not required
  • Significant experience in radiopharmaceutical development preferred, but not required
  • Excellent observational, organizational, data management, and documentation skills
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong passion for the discovery of targeted therapies in a fast-paced start-up environment
