expectation of being in the office 3 days per week)

The Bridge Research Consortium (BRC) was formed in 2024 to strengthen Canada’s pandemic
readiness by helping to build a domestic therapeutic pipeline and immunization system that
embeds public trust and equitable access into scientific innovation, policy development, and
operational readiness. As a unique academic consortium of social sciences and humanities
scholars, working with scientists, healthcare workers, and other varied partners and
collaborators across Canada and the world, the BRC focuses on addressing the social and
behavioural factors associated with the uptake of new vaccines and immunotherapies.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position offers the opportunity to support KMb activities and outputs as part of an
interdisciplinary team working across Canada. The KMb Coordinator will develop and apply skills
in administration, planning, budgeting, and logistics.The role also offers the opportunity to work
with a wide range of people and organizations including scientists, government and industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the KMb Lead and KMb staff with planning, organizing, coordinating, and
implementing KMb activities including logistics, budgeting, internal communications,
reporting, and dissemination of materials
• Provide administrative support for the production of KMb outputs including briefs, reports,
presentations, webinars, and public-facing resources
• Maintain and update KMb tracking systems and tools, and track KMb deliverables, timelines,
and reporting requirements to ensure outputs are completed on schedule
• Provide administrative support to the KMb Lead and KMb staff for meetings including
scheduling, preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, and coordinating logistics
• Support the documentation of meetings and other engagement activities with partners,
collaborator and other knowledge users
• Cost all KMb activities and submit for approval to the Project and Operations Manager and
Scientific Co-Directors
• Process expense claims and invoices for KMb-related staff
• Contribute to the evaluation of KMb activities and process improvements
• Liaise with SFU administrative offices, external collaborators, and partner institutions as needed
IMPACT OF DECISION MAKING
The KMb Coordinator will be relied on to exercise sound judgment in coordinating KMb activities. Decisions
regarding scheduling, communications, and expense processing directly affect project operations, financial
compliance, and relationships.
PROBLEM SOLVING AND LEVEL OF SUPERVISION
Expected to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and resolve operational issues, while seeking
guidance for escalated or complex matters.
RELATIONSHIPS
• Direct reporting to: Knowledge Mobilization Lead
• Work closely with: Knowledge Mobilization staff and other BRC Secretariat staff
• Financially accountable to: Project and Operations Manager (with large purchase approvals by Scientific Co-Directors)
• Accountable to: BRC Scientific Co-Directors Professor Kelley Lee and Professor Ève Dubé
• Regular interaction with BRC members, BRC Secretariat staff, partners, collaborators, knowledge users and
communities
QUALIFICATIONS
• Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, communications, social sciences) or an
equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum two years of experience with providing administrative support, financial processes, and/or
project coordination in a research or higher education setting
• Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
• Strong oral and written communication skills with experience preparing administrative and support
materials for diverse audiences
• Familiarity with event planning, meeting coordination, and administrative systems
• Proficiency with MS Office and project management software; some experience with SFU administrative
systems an asset
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also independently managing responsibilities
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND FLEXIBILITY
• The role can be hybrid, requiring 3 days a week at our Burnaby office, with periodic in-person meetings in
Burnaby and Vancouver, B.C., or at national events.
• Flexibility is needed to accommodate time zones.
• Flexibility is provided for caregiving responsibilities and accessibility needs.
• Occasional travel may be required (e.g., conferences, workshops, stakeholder engagement activities).
