The GSC is a department of the BC Cancer Research Institute and a high-throughput genome sequencing facility. We are leaders in genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics in pursuit of novel treatment strategies for cancers and other diseases.
Among the world’s first genome centres to be established within a cancer clinic, for more than two decades our scientists and innovators have been designing and deploying cutting-edge technologies to benefit health and advance clinical research.
Among the GSC’s most significant accomplishments are the first publication to demonstrate the use of whole-genome sequencing to inform cancer treatment planning, the first published sequence of the SARS coronavirus genome and major contributions to the first physical map of the human genome as part of the Human Genome Project.

Role Summary
A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Genome Sciences Centre at the BC Cancer Research Institute in the group of Dr. Laura Evgin to participate in research investigating cell therapy and viro-immunotherapy for lymphoma. The research will focus primarily on the development of novel combinatorial strategies using oncolytic viruses and vaccines to leverage CAR T cell efficacy.
The ideal candidate should possess a PhD degree and recent experience in immunology, virology, genomics, cancer biology, cell biology or a related discipline. A strong background in immunology and record of accomplishment (first-author publications) is required. Proficiency in classical immunologic and molecular biology techniques including primary cell culture, rodent (mouse) handling and injections, cloning, virus infections, and multi-parameter flow cytometry are needed for success in this position. A background in bioinformatics is also an asset. In addition, the successful candidate should demonstrate creativity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to handle multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are important, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
This is a one-year term appointment subject to annual renewal.
