Congratulations to Dr. Keith Walley, Director of the HLI, for winning the Providence Health Care Research and Mission Award! This award is given out annually in recognition of a scientist who demonstrates the mission and values of Providence health Care while conducting outstanding research. Dr. Walley received the award at the Annual Providence Health Care Research Institute Research Day on July 9th. Dr. Walley is the 7th investigator at the HLI to win this award since its inception in 2005.
In addition to being an Intensive care Physician at St. Paul’s Hospital and Director of the HLI, Dr. Walley runs a busy translational research lab. His research focuses on the mechanisms of decreased left ventricular contractility and other organ failure during sepsis, as well as the impact of genotype on patient outcomes in sepsis and systemic inflammatory states. To date, Dr. Walley has over 200 research publications, has supervised over 50 trainees, and has co-founded two spin-off companies: Sirius Genomics in 2001 and Cyon Therapeutics in 2014.
