By August 1, 2017No Comments

CHÉOS Scientist Dr. Mark Harrison was among the 20 B.C.-based health researchers that received 2017 Scholar Awards from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR). The MSFHR Scholar Program supports the development of B.C.’s research talent by providing salary support to scientists who are building strong research programs and training new scientists.

“With this award I will be studying ways to provide better care for British Columbians living with musculoskeletal diseases,” said Dr. Harrison “My work will have implications provincially, nationally, and internationally for those looking to introduce similar programs in musculoskeletal and other chronic diseases.

Dr. Harrison’s project is entitled “Incentivizing the delivery of sustainable care of chronic diseases in Canada: Case studies in musculoskeletal disease”. Focusing on musculoskeletal diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, his research will combine policy, economic, and outcomes research to improve the delivery of health care in Canada.

“B.C. is an exciting place for health outcomes research and having MSFHR support means more research time and opportunities for collaboration and networking, ultimately enhancing my work to inform the efficient delivery of integrated health care for Canadians”

As a Centre within the Providence Health Care Research Institute, CHÉOS has partnered with MSFHR to provide this Scholar award.
