Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) Associate Dean, Research and Professor Robert Hogg was recognized for his exceptional service to Canada in late January with a King Charles III Coronation Medal.

The medal – which commemorates the 2023 coronation of Canada’s Head of State – is awarded to outstanding Canadians who have made a difference in their communities.

Hogg, who is a senior scientist at the BC Centre of Excellence in HIV/AIDS, is being lauded for the decades of work he has committed to improving our collective understanding of health inequities amongst people living with HIV, specifically focusing on socio-demographic factors that impact HIV prognosis.

With more than 650 academic papers to his credit, Hogg has dedicated his career to working with B.C. clinicians, community organizations and people living with HIV to find ways to overcome barriers to treatment and to initiate approaches to prevention. He has also been a strong advocate for increasing access to antiretroviral therapy, particularly among disenfranchised populations.
