This month’s spotlight features Dr. Kaylee Byers, an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at SFU, a Senior Scientist with the Pacific Institute on Pathogens, Pandemics, and Society, and the Deputy Director of the BC node of the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative. This month, Dr. Byers’ extensive work in science communication earned her the 2024 Simon Fraser University Emerging Thought Leader Newsmaker Award. Her compelling articles for The Conversation and her role as host of the Nice Genes! podcast highlights the power of clear, engaging science communication in shaping public understanding and sparking curiosity.
