Dr. Nicole Krentz
April showers bring May flowers and this past month, Vancouver researchers were absolutely showered with success! We’ve seen CIHR announcements, Killam awards, and NSERC grants get awarded to amazing researchers who are helping amplify our life science ecosystem.
This month, we’ve highlighted Dr. Nicole Krentz from the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She was awarded a prestigious Career Development Award from Breakthrough T1D, a highly competitive grant that provides up to $200,000 annually for up to five years. “This funding will allow my team to pursue fundamental questions about how beta cells respond to autoimmune attack, and I’m hopeful that our findings will contribute to new strategies for protecting these vital cells in people living with type 1 diabetes,” said Dr. Krentz.
Congratulations to all researchers! See the full list of award winners for April 2026 below.
